A message from Julian’s parents introducing
The Julian Budd Kids in Sport trust

Our son Julian died suddenly at the early age of 33 in 2007 as a result of a rare condition called epiglottitis. During his short life he was a wholehearted sports enthusiast who took great joy in playing and supporting a whole range of team and personal sports. In these endeavours he was well known for spreading his enthusiasm and enjoyment of sport to all he came across. As well as his parents he leaves behind a wife and daughter.

Julian ran the London marathon to raise sponsorship funds to assist a children’s charity dealing with leukaemia. This example of his willingness to help and provide practical assistance to others less fortunate is the baton we now carry on his behalf.

We know Julian would love to help children to get involved and enjoy all sports, so this is the cause we have now undertaken in setting up the Julian Budd Kids in Sport Trust.

Sadly many children today simply do not get the chance to participate in a sporting activity due to financial hardship and lack of facilities. Unfortunately there are too many youngsters in the UK who love sport and desperately want to participate but do not get a chance due to their personal circumstances.

The Trust will look to support both able and disabled youngsters between the ages of five to sixteen years in this objective. The areas of funding will be in the provision of sports equipment, sport kit, coaching, up-grading or the provision of facilities, transportation for disabled children to a sporting activity and supervision where required.

As we start out on this journey we will initially focus our efforts in the local region and hopefully as the fund grows with your help we will want to spread this aid throughout the UK.

Our thanks go out to you all in anticipation of your support for this cause.

Kind regards.

Pam and Roger Budd
